Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance arrested an Assistant Section Officer (ASO) at the office of the Engineer-at-Chief of the Water Resources Department here on Tuesday for allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 5,000.

According to a Vigilance release, the accused, Soumya Ranjan Dash, demanded illicit compensation from the complainant in exchange for completing his house construction loan file for loan sanction. His entire bribe money was retrieved.

While a case has been filed under Section 7 of the Prevent of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations associated with Dash to determine whether he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, according to the release.
