Puri: On Saturday, with only three days until Lord Jagannath's annual Rath Yatra in Odisha's Puri, a crack was reportedly discovered in one of Devi Subhadra's Darpadalan chariot's axles.
According to sources, the crack was discovered during an inspection of the chariot this morning. The incident was immediately reported to the authorities and officials involved after the crack was discovered. The carpenters involved have also been instructed to repair the faulty section as soon as possible.
Devotees have reportedly expressed concern about the incident, which has the potential to cause problems during the pulling of chariots during the Rath Yatra on June 20.
Senior servitor Binayak Dasmohapatra suggested that the district administration and Temple officials take the necessary steps as soon as possible to ensure that the chariot pulling goes smoothly and without incident.
Another servant stated that the axle had been repaired with an iron clamp and that every aspect had been examined to ensure that the chariot was not in danger.
