Cuttack: On Tuesday morning, a young girl was allegedly kidnapped by five youths in a car in Odisha's Cuttack district.

According to sources, the girl was riding a scooter on the Mundali-Athgarh road near Chhatabar in the district's Athgarh police limits when a youth hit her on a bike. The incident occurred near a hotel.

As the girl collapsed, the biker and four other youths arriving in a car lifted her from the road and dragged her inside. The hotel owner came out and confronted the youths as the girl yelled for help. But they shoved him and drove away from the scene.

"I first heard the sound of two vehicles colliding, followed by the girl screaming for help." As I approached the youths and inquired about the situation, the biker pushed me with his vehicle. Minor injuries were sustained by me. "But I couldn't stop them as they sped away in their cars," the hotel owner explained.

After being notified, a team from Athgarh police station went to the scene and began an investigation. They also sought information from eyewitnesses about the incident.

According to police sources, preliminary investigation revealed that the scooter was registered in the name of Anup Patnaik of Dhenkanal. However, neither the girl's nor the kidnappers' identities have been confirmed.
