Susant Nayak of Basudevpur, Abhijit Samal, Satyjit Prusty of Banapur, Manas Ranjan Sahu of Meripur, Mahesh Prasad Bal, Digbijay Sahu of Koliatha within Mahanga police limits, and Prajnaparamita Mishra of Gadamadhupur within Jenapur police limits in Jajpur are among those arrested.
Fearing public humiliation, the 21-year-old allegedly committed suicide after one of her female friends secretly clicked her obscene photos and shared them with her male friends.
According to sources, Prajnaparamita, the main accused, was visiting the deceased when some guests arrived with a marriage proposal. She took pictures of her while assisting her in wearing the saree and later shared them with her male friends, who then began blackmailing the victim and even forced her to enter into physical relationships with them.
On July 8, the girl was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in her home.
Manoj Kumar Panda, the deceased's father, filed a police report after officers searched her phone and discovered chats with Susant Nayak and Manas Sahu about her obscene photos.
