IT raids on seafood export firms in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: On Thursday, Income Tax officials raided various locations of a prominent seafood exports company in Bhubaneswar and other parts of Odisha.
According to sources, teams of I-T officials are conducting simultaneous raids at the main office of Falcon Marine Exports Ltd (FMEL) in Bhubaneswar as well as several other locations, including Balasore.
Search operations are also underway at the homes of the company's chairman and senior executives in Odisha's capital and other locations.
The raids are being carried out on the company, which is regarded as one of the largest seafood firms in the state, in order to detect alleged tax evasion.
Since early this morning, approximately 20 teams of I-T officials have been conducting search operations.
According to sources, the raids are taking place in response to allegations of tax evasion, and the I-T department is also conducting raids at the homes of the company's promoters.
The search operations, which are currently underway, will last for some time. As part of the operation, the search teams are looking through various documents, files, and registers. More information is awaited.
