Jharsuguda CDPO arrested for taking Rs 40,000 bribe

On Saturday, a Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) was apprehended by Vigilance sleuths in Odisha's Jharsuguda district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 crore from the president of a Self Help Group (SHG) for the release of a pending bill.

Bhubaneswar: On Saturday, a Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) was apprehended by Vigilance sleuths in Odisha's Jharsuguda district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 crore from the president of a Self Help Group (SHG) for the release of a pending bill.

Sarojini Ekka, Urban, Jharsuguda, was named as the accused.

She was apprehended while demanding and accepting Rs 40,000 from the SHG president for the release of a four-month-old 'chhatua' bill, according to a Vigilance release.

The entire bribe sum was recovered and seized from the accused.

Following the trap, searches are being conducted at two locations in Ekka from the Disproportionate Assets angle.

Rourkela Vigilance PS has registered a case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and an investigation is underway.
