Nuapada: On Thursday night, suspected Maoists blew up a Forest Department beat house in Golabandh, under the Sadar police limits in Odisha's Nuapada district.

According to sources, around 2 a.m., 15-20 armed Maoists gathered in Golabandh village of Kermeli panchayat and hurled bombs at the beat house before setting it on fire. They also blew up a JCB machine belonging to a contractor and plastered eight anti-central and state government posters throughout the village.

The pamphlets urged locals to join the movement in opposition to the governments' anti-people and pro-industry policies.

Nuapada SP GR Raghavendra confirmed the incident, saying that the handwritten posters were put up by Maoists from the Mainpur-Nuapada division. "This appears to be retaliation for security forces busting camps in Patdhara reserve forest." "We're checking with our source," he added.

A joint team of the CRPF, Special Operations Group (SOG), and district police raided the Pathadhara reserve forest near the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border last week and seized 28 detonators, 1 kg of explosives, an empty case of AK-47, two radios, batteries, a Maoist uniform, knives, and arrows. However, around 20-25 Maoists who were present were able to flee.
