Nabarangpur: A district administration in Odisha's Nabaragpur district has launched an investigation into a viral video in which a Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) allegedly pushed a senior woman clerk off her chair at the Dabugaon office.

Sources say CDPO Gitanjali Maharana and head clerk Santoshi Mishra got into a heated argument over an unresolved salary issue. Maharana quickly lost her cool and pushed Mishra out of her seat. Though the office staff tried to stop Maharana, she ignored them and continued hurling insults at the head clerk.

Someone in the office recorded the entire incident, and the video was later uploaded to a social media platform. As soon as the video went viral, the Nabarangapur collector ordered an investigation into the incident. This morning, a two-person team led by District Social Welfare (DSW) officer Kamal Kumari Patnaik arrived at the CDPO office and questioned the CDPO and the senior clerk about the incident. Patnaik was accompanied by Sasmita Mohanty, a Protection Officer.

Gitanjali Moharana, the CDPO, has denied any physical altercation with the head clerk. "When I returned from my neighborhood visit, the clerk inquired about her salary and raised her voice. I asked her to leave the room because there was a meeting going on. I didn't shove her. The allegation against me is false and without foundation," she told the media.

Mishra, on the other hand, claimed that Maharana accused her of striking and threatened to take the day off. The incident occurred while she was defending herself by claiming she had arrived at the office and signed the attendance register.
