Angul: On Sunday, two people were killed when their bike was crushed between two trucks on National Highway No. 55 in Odisha's Angul district.
The mishap occurred on the highway as the two were traveling towards Angul from the Badkera area when a speeding truck collided with their bike from behind.
As a result, their bike slammed into a truck in front of them. According to sources, they were crushed between the two trucks and died on the spot.
Following the accident, the area was tense for some time as angry locals staged a protest. For a while, vehicular traffic on the highway was hampered.
The drivers of both trucks fled the scene, and the two vehicles have been seized by police. The bodies were sent for postmortem examination, but the identities of the deceased had yet to be determined.
