On Monday, a Class IX girl student was discovered dead in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Betaguda in Odisha's Gajapati district's Paralakhemundi block, with her family members alleging foul play.

Paralekhemundi: On Monday, a Class IX girl student was discovered dead in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Betaguda in Odisha's Gajapati district's Paralakhemundi block, with her family members alleging foul play.

On Sunday night, after dinner, all of the female students went to their respective hostel rooms. When the students awoke this morning, they discovered the girl, identified as Soudaminin Raita, hanging.


The school was notified, and the girl was taken to the Paralakhemundi District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where she was pronounced dead.

After receiving information, a team of police officers arrived at the scene and seized her body, which was then sent for a postmortem.

While the exact cause of the girl's death has yet to be determined, her family members have claimed that there was foul play involved in the incident.

They claimed that the girl, who was a bright and talented student, had been murdered.


Teachers stated that the girl had recently celebrated her birthday and had never displayed any unusual behavior.

According to police, an investigation into the death is underway, and the necessary steps will be taken once the postmortem report is received.
