Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, in the presence of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, launched the 'CM- KISAN Yojana' during the Nuakhai festival in Odisha's Sambalpur. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance of 925 crores to 46 lakh small and marginal farmers who are not covered under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) yojana. The CM mentioned that the launch of CM Kisan Yojana on the auspicious occasion of Odisha's agricultural festival, Nuakhai, is a moment of joy for all. A portal called CM Kisan Portal, Farmer Odisha Unified Portal for the benefit of farmers, was also launched. The scheme will provide 46 lakh farming families in the state with financial assistance through direct benefit transfer (DBT) to improve their financial position. Eligible farmers will receive a total of Rs 4,000 in two phases, with the first installment of Rs 2,000 distributed on Nuakhai and the remaining Rs 2,000 on Akshaya Tritiya. The scheme is aimed at benefiting landless farmers who were excluded from the PM Kisan Yojana, and the government aims to extend support to this section of the farming community through the CM KISAN Yojana. This initiative is part of the state government's efforts to uplift farmers and strengthen agricultural development in Odisha. The Nuakhai festival is a three-day agrarian festival celebrated in different districts of western Odisha, including Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Balangir, Bargarh, Subarnapur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, and Boudh. On this auspicious day, farmers offer new grain to the deity to welcome the new crop, followed by celebrations featuring dance and games in the afternoon.
