Odisha MLA Mohd. Moquim, Ex- MLA Chiranjib Biswal suspended from Congress for anti-party activities
On charges of anti-party activities, Congress suspended senior Odisha leaders Mohd Moquim and Chiranjib Biswal from the party on Saturday.

Bhubaneswar: On charges of anti-party activities, Congress suspended senior Odisha leaders Mohd Moquim and Chiranjib Biswal from the party on Saturday.
According to sources, Sarat Pattanayak, President of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), has complained that both leaders are engaging in anti-party activities that are detrimental to the organization.
The matter was referred to the party's Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC).
The two leaders were asked to respond to the complaint. However, the DAC found their responses to be unsatisfactory, and as a result, the committee decided to suspend both of them.
"The responses from the two leaders were carefully considered and found to be inadequate." As a result, the DAC has decided to suspend both of them from the party with immediate effect," Tariq Anwar, Member Secretary-DAC, AICC, said in a statement.
It may be recalled that in May of this year, Congress issued show cause notices to former legislator Chiranjib Biswal and Barabati-Cuttack MLA Mohammad Moquim for their remarks about the state's leadership.
Biswal and Moquim could not be reached for comment right away.
The two were issued notices for violating party discipline and asked to explain why they should not face disciplinary action.
They were served with showcase notices for their statements against the party's affairs and organization at a Bhubaneswar event held ahead of the Jharsuguda Assembly by-election.
Biswal reportedly questioned the selection of the candidate and the composition of the campaign committee for the by-election, which was led by OPCC president Sarat Pattanayak.
He went on to say that despite the fact that the state had only nine Congress MLAs, 20 leaders were vying for the position of chief minister, which harmed party unity.
Notably, the two senior leaders were not named among the top Congress campaigners for the Jharsuguda Assembly bypoll.
