Odisha Vigilance personnel have arrested Jitendra Kumar Padhy, Executive Engineer (EE) of Tel Irrigation Division, Subarnapur, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 46,000 from a contractor in his office chamber to clear pending bills. The entire bribe amount has been recovered from the accused and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are underway at six locations linked to Padhy from the angle of disproportionate assets (DA). A case has been registered in this connection at the Sambalpur Vigilance PS under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation is in progress against accused Padhy and further details are awaited.
