Puri Jagannath Temple to remain close for three days

Puri: From Saturday, the Jagannath temple will be closed to worshipers for three days.

The Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has requested that devotees refrain from visiting the temple during these three days, since they will not be permitted admission. The temple will be closed on Saturday and Sunday for santification of its premises due to the weekend shutdown.

Due to the possibility of a large crowd on Monday for the Janmashtami celebration, the SJTA has chosen to keep the temple closed to prevent the spread of the corona virus.

The temple reopened to all worshippers on August 23 after being shuttered for four months owing to the second wave of the COVID pandemic, which began on April 24.
