Rourkela: Passengers and crew on a Mo Bus narrowly escaped death after the vehicle caught fire in the steel city of Rourkela, Odisha, on Saturday.

The incident did not result in any injuries. According to sources, the bus was traveling from Rourkela to Vedvyas when a fire broke out near TCI Chhak, prompting the driver to pull over.

A major tragedy was averted when all passengers and bus staff immediately exited the vehicle as a precautionary measure. The fire started in the driver's cabin and quickly spread throughout the vehicle.

However, all those on board, including passengers and bus staff, had a close call, according to sources, who added that everyone is safe and no one was hurt in the incident.

When the incident occurred, there were approximately ten passengers on board the Mo Bus.

When the fire department was notified, they rushed to the scene and extinguished the flames. The bus, on the other hand, was virtually destroyed in the incident.

While the exact cause of the fire was unknown, a technical glitch was suspected to have started it.

It should be noted that the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) launched the Mo Bus services in Rourkela in January of this year, ahead of the FIH Men's Hockey World Championship, 2023.
