Puri: Around 1 p.m. on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to virtually flag off Odisha's first Vande Bharat Express from Puri railway station.

Governor Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and local MP Pinaki Mishra and MLA Jayanta Kumar Sarangi will attend the launch event at Puri railway station, according to ECoR sources. The program will begin at 9 a.m., and PM Modi will participate via video conferencing around 12 p.m.

The semi-high-speed train with 16 coaches will begin regular service on May 20. The service will be available six days a week, except on Thursdays, and will have seven stoppages between Puri and Howrah: Kharagpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Khurda Road. According to the sources, it will only stop for two minutes at these stations.
