Mayurbhanj: On Saturday afternoon, firefighters had a difficult time dealing with a regular drinker in Basipitha hamlet, which is within the Khunta police station's jurisdiction.

After a scuffle with his family members, Sundar Mohan Singh's son Jagannath caused a ruckus by climbing a water tank at Basipitha Square while under the influence of alcohol.

Before leaving his residence, the alcoholic adolescent had a confrontation with his relatives over a family concern. Locals who saw the inebriated teen hanging perilously atop the 70-foot high water tank tried unsuccessfully to save him.

After being notified, firefighters led by officer Bijay Kumar Nayak arrived at the village square and safely pulled Jagannath down. To the relief of the frightened people, fire service Havildar Gopinath Nayak and fireman Nagen Hembram took part in the rescue operation.
