Tankadhar Biswal of Inpur village has been identified as the deceased.
According to sources, the accident occurred while the driver was driving home and lost control of the vehicle. The victim was taken to Patnagar hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. He was dragged by the vehicle into a nearby field and died on the spot, according to reports.
Following the mishap, the driver of the MP's car surrendered to Larambha police.
According to the MP, he was not in the car at the time of the accident. He expressed his sorrow over the situation and promised to assist the deceased's family.
