Three killed, one critical as car hits tree in Nabarangpur

Three people were killed and one woman was injured when their car slammed into a roadside tree near Basini Square on the Umerkote-Jharigaon main road in Odisha's Nabarangpur district late Thursday.

Nabarangpur: Three people were killed and one woman was injured when their car slammed into a roadside tree near Basini Square on the Umerkote-Jharigaon main road in Odisha's Nabarangpur district late Thursday.

Suresh Mondal of Chatabeda village in Raigarh, Gauranga Ray of Sonepur village, and Satya Ranjan Bepari of Umerkote have been identified as the deceased.

According to sources, the accident occurred around 1 a.m. as the occupants of the car were returning home from a wedding in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh. The three people died on the spot as a result of the collision.

After being notified, Umerkote police and fire personnel rushed to the scene and transported the severely injured woman, Swaralata Bepari, to a nearby hospital. She was later transferred to the district headquarters hospital in Nabarangpur.

It is suspected that the person on wheels didzed off, which caused the crash.
