Two Forest watchers shot at by miscreants during night patrol in Boudh

Boudh: Unidentified miscreants fired several rounds at a patrolling team vehicle in Odisha's Boudh district late Tuesday, critically injuring two forest watchers.
Nilanchal Pradhan (29) of Saranda village and Naba Kumar Sahu (23) of Badabag village were initially admitted to the district headquarters hospital. Nilanchal was shot twice in the shoulder and was later transferred to VIMSAR in Burla as his condition worsened. Naba was struck on the back.
According to sources, a team of five forest officials and guards led by ACF Ashish Kanhar were patrolling in an SUV in the Baghiapada area of the Boudh Forest Range. As the patrolling party approached Khaliapalli, four unidentified individuals arrived on a motorcycle and fired 4-5 rounds of ammunition at the vehicle.
According to Boudh DFO Debaprya Kampa, the miscreants attacked the patrolling party around 1.30 a.m. The attackers have yet to be identified, despite an ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, police have been called to the scene.
The wildlife mafia is suspected of being involved in the shooting incident because patrols are being conducted to prevent poaching and ganja farming.
