Berhampur: After allegedly jumping in front of a speeding train near Palasa on the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border with her two children last evening, a 25-year-old woman from Odisha's Ganjam district and her 8-month-old daughter were killed, while her 4-year-old son sustained critical injuries.

U Srabani and U Shree of Chidipudi village in Patrapur block have been identified as the deceased. Her son, U Harshat, is in critical condition at Berhampur MKCG Medical College and Hospital.

Some reports claimed that Srabani took the action due to a family dispute, while others claimed that the woman could not see the approaching train because she was holding her children, resulting in the accident.

Meanwhile, Palasa Government Railway Police (GRP) officers arrived on the scene and seized the two bodies for postmortem examination.
