Baripada: Following a fight with her husband, a woman killed her one-and-a-half-month-old son by throwing him into a canal in a village in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district.
On Tuesday, the event allegedly occurred in Bankidihi hamlet, which is under the jurisdiction of Bishoi police station. Parvati Naik has been recognized as the woman.
According to sources, the woman and her husband had a heated disagreement about a family matter. The quarrel turned violent when the enraged mom hurled her infant son into a canal in the village. The precise cause of the occurrence has yet to be determined.
Villagers pulled the infant's floating body from the canal and promptly notified the Bishoi police.
A police squad arrived on the scene, grabbed the body, and transported it to Rairangpur Hospital for a postmortem. The woman has also been arrested, and an inquiry into the incident has begun.
