Bhubaneswar: Two 'bouncers' were detained for reportedly kidnapping the manager of a dance establishment in Odisha's capital and demanding a Rs 50,000 monthly ransom.
The arrest was made by officers from Bhubaneswar's Airfield Police Station after an inquiry into a complaint lodged by the victim, who works as the manager of a dance bar in Bhubaneswar's Laxmisagar region on the Cuttack-Puri route.
Asish Sahoo (29), alias Pinu, and Aditya Baral (24), the accused, were recognized. Both are facing criminal charges in the state capital. According to authorities, the duo has been seized with one SUV used in the purported kidnapping and two mobile phones.
Under threat, the two kidnapped the victim on July 28 from his leased property in Sundarpada. They took him to a remote location near Sisupalgarh and attacked him viciously. They wanted a monthly ransom of Rs 50,000 or threatened to force him to quit the dance bar. After being let free by the accused, he was severely hurt and reported the incident to the police.
The police had initiated a manhunt for the culprit, who had fled after committing the crime. According to authorities, the two were apprehended when information about their hiding surfaced.
