Elephant Calf Found Dead In Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: A calf was discovered dead in the Dhenkanal district's forests on Thursday, marking another elephant fatality in Odisha.

The elephant calf's carcass was originally discovered on the borders of Kankili hamlet in the Muktapasi range of Kamakhyanagar, and the people immediately alerted the forest officials.

The carcass was examined, and the forest officials determined that it was four years old. According to their early study, they believed that the calf might have perished during an adult elephant fight. The Muktapasi range forester told the reporters that the precise reason of the calf's death could only be determined once the post-mortem report was received.

The group of forest rangers has set up camp nearby and is monitoring the carcass. According to accounts, the veterinary crew was not present for the examination.

It should be mentioned that three elephants have passed away from gunshot wounds in the past two months in the Narasinghpur forest range in the Cuttack district.
