Bhubaneswar: The director of the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) in Bhubaneswar, Dr. Ajay Parida, passed away on Tuesday in Guwahati, Assam.
Information indicates that Dr. Parida passed away after a heart attack.
He passed away while travelling to Guwahati to attend a conference.
In July 2017, the renowned researcher began serving as the Institute of Life Sciences' director. He was the executive director of the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation in Chennai before taking on this post.
Parida, who is well-known for his contributions to agricultural, plant molecular biology, and biotechnology research, was a pioneer in the discovery of stress-tolerant genes that are specifically adapted to salinity and drought.
