Bhubaneswar: Odisha is commemorating the three-day Raja Parba festival, which takes place every year in the month of Asadha. Bhudevi (earth) is said to menstruate and prepare herself for future agricultural efforts during this time.

The name 'Raja' comes from the word 'Rajaswala,' which refers to menstruation women. Every woman is compared to Bhudevi, and she is given a special place at this festival. She would not be required to work for four days and would be permitted to rest. They don't walk barefoot, they don't scratch the ground, they don't grind, they don't pull things apart, they don't cut, and they don't cook.

Young girls in the state greeted Pahili Raja on Tuesday by bathing and dressing up in their best clothing after coating their bodies with turmeric paste. There will be card games, ludo, and swings. Mithun Sankranti is the second day, and Bhu Daha, or Basi Raja, is the third day. Basumati Snan is the name given to the fourth and last day of the festival.

Chief Minister wished people on the festival on his official Twitter account. He wrote in Odia which translated into English says, "Raja is a cultural and mass festival of Odisha. On this occasion, I extend my wishes and greeting to all residents of Odisha.”
