Bhubaneswar: Today, the State Assembly heard the whole annual budget for 2022–2023 from Odisha's finance minister, Niranjan Pujari, which totals Rs 2 lakh crore.

A total of Rs 74,271 crore in administrative costs are included in the budget. In the fiscal year, salaries for government personnel will be paid out of the administrative expenses in the amount of Rs 29,248 crore.

36,033 crore will be obtained from loans and other sources, leaving 1,63,967 crore to be obtained from revenue sources.

When he delivered the budget in the afternoon, Pujari asserted that the State was moving forward in terms of development, with an emphasis on agriculture and farmer development in particular. According to him, the government intends to irrigate 2.60 hectares of land during the current fiscal year.

Women are increasingly involved in the State's decision-making process, according to Pujari.

The government plans to finish all of the major and minor irrigation projects in 2022–2023. Up to 12,500 deep bore-wells will be drilled this year. Incentives would be offered this year to promote pond digging, fishing, and fish sales, he said.

Under the "KALIA" programme, the government has allocated Rs 1,874 crore to help farmers this year.

Veterinarian services will be improved in the upcoming year, according to the finance minister.

According to him, the primary complete budget includes a special agriculture budget of more over Rs 21,000 crore. A budgetary outlay of Rs 2,217 has been designated for the Forest Department.

The Minister stated that Rs. 3,035 crore has been set aside for the Planning and Convergence Department, and Rs. 441 crore has been set aside under the MLA Local Area Development category. According to him, Rs 3,643 crore has been set aside for development in the mining-affected districts.

The Minister stated that Rs 911 crore and Rs 3,210 crore, respectively, had been made aside for disaster management and sports sector development.

The Western Odisha Development Council has been given Rs 180 crore by the government.

According to Pujari, Rs 1,023 crore and Rs 2,664 crore, respectively, have been set aside for food security proposals and the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana.
