School teacher, clerk killed after bike hits scooter in Kandhamal

Phulbani: On Saturday, a woman teacher and a clerk were killed after their scooter was hit by a speeding motorcycle near Lingagarh in Odisha's Kandhamal district.

According to reports, the two women were riding their scooter to school when a speeding cycle carrying two little boys collided head-on with their two-wheeler.

All four were carried by auto-rickshaw to the local government hospital, where physicians ruled both women dead. The minor boys were injured in the crash and are being treated.

Pradipta Sahu (34), a teacher at Lingagar Kanyashram School and a native of Nayagarh, was one of the murdered ladies, as was Bimala Pradhan (47) of Kupaguda village in Malikapadi panchayat. After hearing the news, family members and villagers rushed to the hospital.

Ajay Swain, Inspector in Charge of G Udayagiri Police Station, also visited the hospital to assess the situation. He stated that the minor boys who were riding the bike are being treated, and that both damaged automobiles have been impounded.
