State government has ruled out a shutdown situation

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government voiced concern on Wednesday over the rising number of COVID cases in the state, but ruled out imposing a shutdown in the current situation.
Bijay Mohapatra, the state's health director, told reporters here that the daily caseload of COVID in the state has been over 11,000 for the past few days. The R-value of the coronavirus has also increased as the contamination rate has increased, he added.Though the virus's spread is concerning, Mohapatra believes it does not justify a lockdown or closure at this time.
The R-value indicates how quickly the coronavirus is spreading in a certain area, as well as the number of persons who could become infected as a result of a COVID-infected person.
The public should not be alarmed by the situation, according to the Health Director, who encouraged them to get a COVID test if they acquire symptoms right away.
He also stated that the Health Department intends to expand COVID test centres and daily testing capacity. He stated that steps are being taken in accordance with the recommendations of the central government.
On Wednesday, the number of COVID cases in Odisha increased slightly, with 11,607 more persons testing positive for the virus in the previous 24 hours. 991 of them are between the ages of 0 and 18.
