Two labourers killed as rice mill wall collapses in Nayagarh

Nayagarh: On Monday, two laborers were crushed to death beneath a mountain of packed sacks at a rice mill in Odagaon, Nayagarh district, Odisha.

Rameshwar Dihudi of Tirisinga in Ganjam district and Pramod Maharana of Badamba in Cuttack were identified as the deceased.

According to accounts, the mishap occurred at Rohibanka when two workers were monitoring the stockyard in the rice mill in the early hours when the loaded bags fell on them.

The two were severely injured. They were rescued and transported to Odagaon's Community Health Centre (CHC), where physicians confirmed them dead.

While the exact circumstances surrounding the bags' fall remain unknown, sources from the scene indicate that the incident occurred after a mill beam failed and landed on the sacks in the stockyard.

Family relatives of the dead arrived at the hospital after being notified.

While police have initiated an inquiry following the incident, more information is yet expected.
