Woman dead, 14 critical after bus overturns in Rayagada

Rayagada: In a tragic occurrence, a passenger bus went turtle at Hatikhamba Village under Mukundpur gramme panchayat in Chandili region of Rayagada district, killing a woman and critically injuring 14 others.
The accident reportedly occurred on Monday at around 12.30 am while the private bus, known as the "Sai Krupa," was travelling from Umerkote to Paralakhemundi. The bus overturned as a result of the driver losing control of the vehicle. Locals flocked to the scene right once, escorted 40 to 45 passengers from the bus, and then called the police and fire departments.
"The community health centres in Gunpur and Mukhundapur have welcomed thirty travellers. According to a passenger, at least 14 passengers had to be sent to the hospital for the Rayagada area as their conditions deteriorated.
The unfortunate bus has been taken by the police, who have also opened an investigation. According to authorities, the woman who died in the collision has not yet been recognised.
