ASI arrested for taking bribe in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths apprehended ASI of Saheed Nagar police station Mamata Bastia here on Thursday after she allegedly accepted a Rs 15,000 bribe.
According to sources, Bastia demanded illegal remuneration from the complainant in exchange for assistance in a case in which she was the investing officer. The entire bribe money was recovered and seized from her possession.
Following the trap, two locations linked to the ASI are conducting simultaneous house searches.
According to the sources, a case has also been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigation is underway.
