A girl student allegedly committed suicide on Sunday night, a day before the annual High School Certificate (HSC) Examinations, due to poor performance in some papers in Odisha's Jajpur district's Dasrathpur block.

Jajpur: A girl student allegedly committed suicide on Sunday night, a day before the annual High School Certificate (HSC) Examinations, due to poor performance in some papers in Odisha's Jajpur district's Dasrathpur block.

Rashmibala Pahil of Bamadevpur village, a student at Jajpur Municipality High School, was discovered hanging with her scarf in her home on Sunday night. She took the HSC exams at Jajatikeshari High School.

Rahsmibala's family members claimed that she did poorly in two papers and was under mental stress. Her family claimed she couldn't handle the stress and took drastic measures.

When police were notified, they measured the body and transported it to the district headquarters hospital for a postmortem.

In the meantime, police have launched an investigation into the incident.
