‘Don’t search for me’: last message of Bhubaneswar youth who jumped into river due to online trading loss

The primary reason for Bhubaneswar youth Mrutyunjay Manik's decision to jump into the Mahanadi river from the Jobra barrage in Cuttack on Tuesday was the loss he suffered from online trading. As of now, his body has not been found.

The Odisha Fire Services Department personnel have been conducting search operations for the past two days. Mrutyunjay's family members shared that he had initially lost Rs 10 lakh in online trading and had recently suffered another loss of Rs 4 lakh.

According to a relative of Mrutyunjay, "We had not asked for money. He had withdrawn money from his savings account. He used to repay the bank from profits. Recently, two days back, he had lost Rs 4 lakh."

Family members mentioned that Mrutyunjay had sent a text to his sister expressing his distress for the last time. After that, his mobile phone was switched off, and they were unable to contact him.
"I made a mistake. Please don't try to find me, I'm lost," he messaged his sister. "We told him to work hard and pay back the money. After a recent loss, he couldn't handle the pressure and his spirits plummeted," added a relative.

In the meantime, the Odisha Fire Services personnel are continuing the search for Anup Agarwal's body. He allegedly jumped into the Mahandi river from the Madhusudan Setu on Tuesday night.
"We are conducting two search operations, one in the Jobra area and the other around the Madhusudan Setu," said an official.
