Bhubaneswar: On Friday morning, an ambulance carrying four people from Odisha rammed a stopped oil tanker on the Bangaluru-Tirupati National Highway in the Chittoor area of Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district.

Umesh Chandra Sahoo, Majulata Sahoo, Trilochan Nayak, and Bijay Nayak of Pattamundai region in Kendrapada district have been identified as the deceased.

According to media sources, the accident occurred at 4 a.m. while the four were returning in an ambulance belonging to KIMS hospital after receiving treatment at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru. The impact of the crash severely destroyed the front of the ambulance.

"While the four died instantly, ambulance driver Sanjay and oil tanker driver Sankar died later from serious injuries." The remains have been sent to Chittoor Government Hospital, and a case has been filed at Thavanampalli police station, according to Chittoor DSP K Srinivasa Murthy.
