Koraput: On Tuesday, police seized huge quantities of ganja worth more than Rs 50 lakh near Nuanput village in Odisha's Koraput district in a major crackdown on narcotic smugglers.
The ganja was seized while being transported in a cement-laden truck, while the smugglers managed to flee the scene, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
Based on information, police officers from Machhkund, Jollaput, and Lamtaput conducted a raid and intercepted a truck carrying cement packets.
During a search of the vehicle, police discovered ganja packed in 20 large bags weighing 5.2 quintal. The confiscated contraband is estimated to be worth more than Rs 50 lakh.
The ganja was about to be transported outside of Odisha, according to police, who also stated that the truck had been seized and that efforts were being made to apprehend those involved in the racket.
