On Thursday, a PG first-year student at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, Odisha, was discovered dead in a senior residents hostel under mysterious circumstances.

Berhampur: On Thursday, a PG first-year student at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, Odisha, was discovered dead in a senior residents hostel under mysterious circumstances.

Subhani Patnaik, a PG student in the medical college's Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprosy Department, has been identified as the deceased.

Subhani was rescued from her hostel room in critical condition and taken to the hospital, according to sources. She died, however, while undergoing treatment. After being notified at around 12.40 p.m., police recovered the body from the casualty and sent it for postmortem. 

"The student was unresponsive when she was taken to the hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival." Until now, there has been no allegation or suspicion of foul play from family members. A case of unnatural death has been filed, and an investigation is underway, according to a police officer.

According to sources, she had taken migraine medications and could have died from a drug overdose.

Subhani's father and other relatives have arrived at MKCG after learning of her death.
