Bhubaneswar: So far, 26 instances of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) have been identified in Odisha, according to Health Director Bijay Mohapatra.
"HFMD was discovered in 26 of the 36 samples collected and evaluated at the RMRC in Bhubaneswar." Bhubaneswar has 19 afflicted children, Khurda has two, Puri has three, and Cuttack has two. Children aged 1 to 9 are all afflicted. They've been told they'll have to stay in isolation for 5-7 days," he stated.
The Odisha government had previously stated that it was aware of the problem and monitoring it in light of the significant increase in viral infection.
Authorities at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar and Capital Hospital recently informed the media about the discovery of many individuals with symptoms similar to HFMD, raising concerns. For the last two weeks, they had received four to five patients with these symptoms.
The HFMD has lately made headlines due to an epidemic in Kerala, where it was first dubbed Tomato fever. Experts believe the virus is usually self-limiting and disappears within a week with symptomatic therapy, although it can cause severe encephalitis in rare cases.
