Free COVID Booster Dose For 18-59 Age Group From Today

Bhubaneswar: As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, all residents in the age range of 18-59 can receive free precautionary doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at government immunisation clinics for 75 days starting on Friday.

The doses would be given in Bhubaneswar at 12 immunisation sites between the hours of 10 am and 1 pm and 3 pm and 6 pm. The Urban Community Health Centre, Unit 4, will host the drive, which aims to increase the uptake of COVID precaution doses, at 10 a.m. in the presence of Bijay Kumar Panigarhi, director of health and family welfare, and Vijay Amruta Kulange, commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Panigrahi said that 2,500 immunisation centres across the state would offer free booster doses. Despite having enough medical personnel to provide the booster doses to recipients, he continued, "the Center will be told about it as we do not have enough supply of vaccines."

In response to the COVID outbreak, the Center initially opted to shorten the second dosage and precautionary dose gap for all individuals from nine to six months, and then announced that it would be free at government facilities for 75 days.
