Bhubaneswar: At Aiginia in Bhubaneswar, police reportedly detained five people and recovered a significant amount of ganja from them.
A squad of police officers from Khandagiri police station increased patrols in Aiginia and the surrounding areas as a result of a tip-off.
During the operation, the police squad stopped a car and discovered the contraband hidden within a hidden compartment.
The ganja, which weighed more than one quintal, was being unlawfully transported by five people who were in the car. The police said that through doing this, a significant smuggling ring was brought down.
According to the police report, the accused admitted to using the high-end car to deliver the shipment in an effort to deceive investigators from the police and excise.
As per reports, the contraband's estimated worth was close to Rs 7 lakh. The automobile and a rifle have both been taken by the cops.
Police stated that the suspects were carrying the marijuana from the Kandhamal district and further investigation was ongoing to find other suspects connected to the scheme.
