Woman Trampled To Death By tusker in Odisha Village

Bhubaneswar: On Friday, an elephant is said to have trampled a woman to death at a village in the Athgarh region of the Cuttack district of Odisha.
Niasa Rout, a resident of the Tigiria police station-supervised village of Achalkote, has been identified as the deceased. According to a report from Athgarh, the settlement is situated within the jurisdiction of Athgarh Forest Division.
On her way to the countryside to pick vegetables in the morning, the woman was apparently attacked by the jumbo wandering the area. The pachyderm appeared to have gotten loose from the neighbouring forest and wandered into the neighbourhood.
The villagers requested that the deceased person's family receive immediate recompense. A rush of forest officers arrived at the scene.
