Near Bhubaneswar, the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha detained two narcotics dealers and seized more than 1 kg of heroin from their possession.

Bhubaneswar: Near Bhubaneswar, the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha detained two narcotics dealers and seized more than 1 kg of heroin from their possession.

The two were identified as Lipun Pandey of Pipili in the Puri district and Sk Abbash of the Masjidgali region in Khurda. On Friday evening, an STF unit acting on a tip-off launched an anti-narcotic drug operation close to Uttara-Pipili and captured them.

During the search, STF agents found more evidence against the suspects as well as 1.08 kg (1080 gram) of illicit brown sugar (heroin).

The STF announced in a release on Saturday that the two accused parties will be sent to the Court of District & Sessions'-Cum-Special Judge in Puri.

The two are accused of illegally possessing/dealing in narcotic substances under sections 21(c) and 29 of the NDPS Act of 1985.

The STF has continued its statewide campaign to eradicate illegal narcotics. Since 2020, the STF has detained more than 178 drug traffickers and distributors and seized more than 72 kg of brown sugar/heroin, 202 gm of cocaine, 116 quintals of ganja, and 750 gm of opium.

In the past year, the STF has destroyed more than 60 kg of confiscated brown sugar, according to the announcement.
