Bhubaneswar, April 26: The Bhubaneswar District Congress Committee today called on for a rally to protest the phone tapping and WhatsApp hacking of former judges, politicians, ministers, senior journalists, social activists by the Israel App Pegasus. Modi and Shah's effigies were set on fire at MasterCanteen today.

Led by Bhubaneswar district Congress president Biswajit Das, hundreds of Congress workers in black uniforms marched out of the Congress building to protest at MasterCanteen Square, burning the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

"Through the Pegasus Spyware, the central government has hampered our personal and fundamental rights by phone tapping and whatsapp hacking", Das said. Its judicial investigation should be carried out under the auspices of the Supreme Court and all the perpetrators of this undemocratic ugly act should be punished accordingly. In this regard, Mr. Das also said that all this is impossible without the knowledge of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, so the Home Minister should resign immediately. His involvement in it, directly or indirectly, cannot be ruled out. The event was moderated by Mr. Subrata Mohapatra, District Vice President. The protest was also participated by DCC president Niranjan Patnaik, Sarat Patnaik, Sivananda Roy, Student Congress president Yasir Swal and Manoranjan Das, who similarly criticized the BJP-ruled central government.
