Sundargarh: A woman's mutilated body that had been missing for six days was found in a jungle in the Koida neighborhood of Odisha's Sundargarh district.

According to sources, the woman's body, identified as Gura Naik, was discovered in the Mendhamruni forest close to the village of Kalamanga, which is a part of the Malda Panchayat.

The woman had ventured into the forest six days prior and had been missing ever since. Her family members made unsuccessful attempts to find her. A complaint was made to the Koida police in this respect. Some neighbors who had visited the jungle yesterday discovered the woman's dismembered body and alerted her relatives.

After receiving information, police officers hurried to the scene and took the body into custody before sending it for an autopsy.

The woman was believed to have died following an animal assault, but the precise cause of death wouldn't be known until after the postmortem, according to authorities.
