Puri: Miscreants allegedly looted a donation box located at the shrine's southern gate late Thursday in a security breach at Jagannath Temple in Odisha's Puri town.
According to sources, the miscreants used an iron rod to break open the donation box kept under the Bhim statue near the temple's southern gate and fled with money and valuables, leaving it behind the Nrusingha temple on the premises.
The problem was discovered when some servants discovered an empty donation box. The Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) turned it over to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, which has launched an investigation and is reviewing CCTV footage to find the perpetrators.
