Ganja Smuggler Posing as MLA Arrested in Cuttack
Two people were apprehended by excise officers in the Tangi area of Odisha's Cuttack district while illegally transporting a large amount of ganja.
Cuttack: Two people were apprehended by excise officers in the Tangi area of Odisha's Cuttack district while illegally transporting a large amount of ganja.
In an attempt to flee, one of the accused falsely identified himself as a former Uttar Pradesh MLA.
On Wednesday, excise officials launched an operation after receiving a tip and intercepted a car near the Tangi toll gate. In order to scare the excise team, one of the passengers identified himself as a former MLA of Uttar Pradesh.
Excise DSP P K Das stated that the vehicle was thoroughly searched and that over one quintal of ganja was seized from a specially designed secret chamber.
The consignment was estimated to be worth more than Rs ten lakh. The ganja was on its way from Andhra Pradesh to Uttar Pradesh.
The two suspects, identified as Amzad and Tabrez, have been arrested, and an investigation is ongoing. More information is awaited.
