Malkangiri Police Cracks Murder Case, Arrests 33-Year-Old Accused

Malkangiri Police have arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly murdering a 25-year-old person in MV-8 village following a heated argument. The accused has been identified as Bibhan Mandal, while the deceased is Milan Majumdar, both residents of MV-8 village under Malkangiri police limits. Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s wife Sumitra Mujumdar, a police team led by Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) Rigan Kindo began an investigation into the murder case and subsequently arrested Bibhan. Sachin Patel, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Malkangiri, stated, “Milan’s mutilated body was recovered on October 10. Milan’s wife had filed a complaint alleging foul play behind the murder. On the basis of the complaint, police had begun an investigation with the help of a scientific team.” Patel added, “During the investigation, we discovered that the accused, Bibhan, and the victim Milan were acquaintances. A dispute arose 15 days before the incident when Majumdar made inappropriate comments about Mandal’s wife while they were drinking together. Mandal suspected Majumdar was stalking his wife for sexual purposes and planned to kill him. On October 14, 2024, Mandal invited Majumdar to a party, lured him to a secluded spot, and fatally assaulted him with a pre-hidden weapon. To destroy evidence, Mandal concealed the weapon, took Majumdar’s valuables, and threw their mobile phones into a river.”
