The Odisha government plans to provide disaster management training to members of Mission Shakti in 14 cyclone-prone districts within the next year, according to Sumitra Pattanaik, Additional Secretary of Mission Shakti. This training initiative, called 'Mission Shakti Swayamsiddha,' aims to equip women with essential skills to effectively respond during cyclones and other natural disasters.
A total of 50 women from each panchayat in these districts will receive the training, impacting 3,922 panchayats involved in the initiative, as stated by Pattanaik. The Mission Shakti Department has collaborated with the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) to facilitate this training, and an agreement has been signed to formalize the partnership.
