Bhubaneswar: On Saturday, Odisha Vigilance agents nabbed a Revenue Inspector (RI) of Baharana Circle in Jagatsinghpur district for allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 4,000.

The RI, Ramakanta Behera, had demanded illegal money from the plaintiff in a partition suit brought by him for issuing separate RoRs (pattas). According to a vigilance release, the whole bribe sum was collected and seized from him.

While a case has been registered at the Cuttack Vigilance Police Station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations linked to Behera to determine whether he had accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, according to the statement.
