Phulbani: On Sunday, a man was beaten to death for allegedly molesting a minor girl in a village in Odisha's Kandhamal district's Raikia area.
The incident occurred in Sikabadi village, which is under the jurisdiction of the district's Raikia police station. Nirupal Mehta, a resident of neighboring Chhattisgarh, was identified as the deceased.
The man allegedly molested the girl when he found her alone, according to sources. The family members were enraged when the girl informed them of the shocking incident.
Following that, the accused was allegedly beaten to death by the minor girl's father and paternal uncle. After committing the crime, the two, identified as Krushnachandra Pradhan and Taranisen Pradhan, surrendered to police in Raikia.
A local contractor hired Nirupal, a concrete mixer machine operator, to lay roads in the district.
Raikia police have opened an investigation and registered a case in this regard. More information is awaited.
